Before I give you any answers on how to handle difficult buyers, I must stress to you that in any businesses; be it a physical store or a virtual store like an eBay auction, you want to have repeat customers.

What do I mean by repeat customers?

Why then should they come back to your store?

There could be a few reasons or a combination of the following reasons:

Having the above as your guiding principle in doing any businesses, I would say that we just have to be patient and serve these ‘difficult’ buyers well so that they will eventually give you a good feedback rating and they would even be your repeat customers.

What could be some difficult buyers?

Some may ask you for details that are already given in the description of the item but you have to be polite and repeat the answer. Do not  be sarcastic and tell the customer to re-read the item description as it was already given or posted; eg. the size or measurement of the item.

A few may even ask what you may think is a silly question but you still have to be tactful and give them some polite answer; eg. is the item in good condition?

After you have posted the item to the successful bidder, the customer may say that the item has yet to arrive or it is broken or not to his expectation, etc….. Basically, you should seek some understanding from the customer and check with the postal service, replace the item or even given a refund.

Bottom line is that you want to be seen to be genuine in your sale and providing excellent services to the Buyer and not making a fast buck from him. Yes, you may be cheated on a few transactions but this is how it works in the real business world too.

You cannot afford to have even one bad feedback rating as it is likely to prevent future buyers from transacting with you. But if you have been obliging and giving good services to your past buyers and have been indicated in your positive feedback, you are getting good and free publicity or advertisement for you store or products.

Adding images to your ebay listings for free is quite easy to do, first thing to do is open a photobucket account. You can do this at:

images you want to use in your listing, you need to get the HTML code for the pictures. You get this from below the picture. Highlight the code for the picture then copy it ready to paste into your listing. You might want to paste it into a Wordpad document to keep until you need it then copy & paste it from there.

When you type in your item description on ebay - stop typing at the point you want to insert an image then click the HTML tab. Copy and paste the images HTML code at the end of the code where you finished typing. If you want the image to appear in the center of your description, type

You can resize pictures to suite your listing on Photobucket. To add more text, click the Standard tab and carry on typing your description.

You can dry-run your listing on ebay and play around with the coding, positioning etc. Insert your text and image codes then preview how your listing will appear to see if you like it. If you don’t like it simply delete it.

Another way to add photos is to use an ebay template. You can get them free online. One site that supplies free templates is www.onlineauctiontrader.com . With an ebay template, you can type in your item description and add image HTML. You will be shown where in the template code to place your text and image codes.

It’s all quite easy really once you’ve tried it. One word of warning though, if someone clicks on

If you choose to dropship your items to your customer, you still have the advantage of not having to store inventory or manage it. Your dropshipper will do that. You won’t have to worry about mailing supplies or getting stamps either. So, going with third party to deliver your products is the easiest way to transform a virtual infoproduct business into a hard copy infoproduct business.

You can even use the physical format to help you sell virtual infoproducts on your own website, by giving your customers that information after they’ve place their physical order and received it. It may drive sales directly to your site if you tell them that, in the future, they can buy the same information in digital format directly from you. You do have to be careful not to violate the term of eBay’s agreement that says you cannot offer a digital infoproduct as a free bonus. You won’t have to worry about competition from eBay because they’ve banned that area from their site. This will help to steer customers away from eBay and to your site, where hopefully they will buy and download virtual infoproducts directly from you. By getting your website and name branded with the digital infoproducts, you get a boost in your self-promotion.

Depending on your dropshipper, they may have limits as to who they can send your products too. Some don’t mind international orders and others don’t do them. Otherwise, many dropshippers have developed distribution channels that are efficient and cheap. You can benefit from their knowledge without having to figure out how they do it so well. The more you print at one time, usually the better deal you get per book or CD, so you should have a good idea how to have enough physical infoproducts you need to keep in stock to keep your inventory flowing smoothly.

Tracking inventory and keeping track of mail orders is a whole new skill set that you will have to cultivate that you didn’t need to have with virtual infoproducts. It can be shocking to realize that there are so many tiny things that can go wrong from being out of envelopes, packing, infoproducts, or having trouble timing the post office so you don’t waste hours in line.
